Honda Civic Hatchback K24: Where It All Started
Joshua Bracamonte was born and raised in Mid City, Los Angeles, California. “Growing up with Hot Wheels and watching mechanic neighbors and street racing got me hooked,” he recalls. Surrounded by Hondas and inspired by Jerry Built Racing, Joshua acquired a 1992 Honda Civic hatchback with one clear goal: build a lightweight all-motor beast that could compete at the highest level.
The Build Philosophy: Light and Naturally Aspirated
Joshua and the team at Jerry Built Racing focused on weight reduction, applying primer, and giving the car a fresh paint job. Then came the heart of the build: a fully built K24 engine designed to compete in the all-motor class.
The engine features aluminum R&R connecting rods and 88mm Traum pistons, complemented by a complete 4Piston cylinder head package. With this setup, the car achieves a remarkable 10.1-second quarter-mile time while weighing just 1,800 pounds, running on M1 methanol.
“The uniqueness of this all-motor car lies in its rarity,” Joshua explains. “There are only a handful like it, featuring a four-cylinder engine that runs on M1 gas.”

Living the Dream
“Achieving ownership of this vehicle feels like a dream come true, yet I am driven to push its limits and increase its speed,” Joshua says. “At times, it feels surreal to be both the owner and driver of my own race car, but my determination has never wavered, and my passion for this pursuit continues to grow.”

Future Plans: Chasing Low 9s
“The plan is to run low 9s in the all-motor class,” Joshua says. That means shaving nearly a full second off an already impressive quarter-mile time—a massive challenge in naturally aspirated racing where every horsepower and every pound matters.

Community and Support
Joshua gives massive credit to the people who’ve helped him along the journey:
JERRY BUILT and also several other friends including:

“This wouldn’t be possible without the team that believed in the build and helped push it forward.”

Final Thoughts
From Hot Wheels and street racing in Mid City LA to running 10.1-second quarter-miles in a 1,800-pound all-motor K24 Honda Civic, Joshua Bracamonte represents the dedication it takes to compete at the highest levels of naturally aspirated drag racing. With support from Jerry Built Racing and a tight crew of friends and builders, he’s achieved what many thought impossible—and he’s not stopping at 10s.
“My determination has never wavered, and my passion for this pursuit continues to grow.” With plans to chase low 9-second passes, Joshua’s journey is far from over. This is what all-motor racing is all about: no turbos, no superchargers, just pure engine building, tuning expertise, and the courage to push a naturally aspirated four-cylinder to its absolute limit.
